About

I work as a Somatic Psychotherapist, drawing from my training as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, and Co-Regulating Touch Practitioner, the latter of which includes NeuroAffective Touch, developed by Aline LaPierre, SE Touch from Peter Levine and the touch work of Kathy Kain. Outside of my professional role, I am intentional about cultivating a life infused with authentic relationship, meaning, presence and connection, in all of its myriad forms. My husband, our dogs, friends, family, poetry, creative practices, inquiry and finding ways to slow down time are some of the greatest loves of my life.

Therapeutic Approach

My approach is grounded in the belief that healing is not about fixing what is broken, but about moving toward greater wholeness, integration, creativity, and aliveness. Often, the parts of us that carry pain, vulnerability, instinct, grief, anger, longing, or vitality become pushed out of awareness through our early relational experiences and the ways we learned to survive within them. Over time, we can become cut-off from both our suffering and heartache, as well as our spontaneity, agency, imagination, connection, and the fuller experience of being alive.

I see therapy as a gradual process of bringing these disowned or protected parts of ourselves back into relationship, so they can be known, felt, understood, and integrated rather than remaining split-off, carried unconsciously, or projected onto others. This process is rarely linear. It unfolds through curiosity, awareness, and the experience of being met within a safe and attuned therapeutic relationship.

When appropriate, I offer therapeutic touch which is always optional, consent-based, and shaped by the readiness and comfort of my clients. It is not massage or physical therapy. It is a relational, developmental, and somatic approach that works with how experience is held in the nervous system and body, especially where words alone are insufficient. This work supports the integration of embodied and relational experience, including early attachment patterns and implicit emotional learning, as well as completion of stuck survival physiology.  Some sessions may remain entirely conversational, whereas others may include more experiential or body-based work depending on what is appropriate and supportive.

Central to my work is an orientation toward aliveness, embodiment, relational emergence, and the integration of dissociated vitality; not only the reduction of suffering and the long-term effects of trauma, but also the return of movement, feeling, contact, and creative life-force.

As this work unfolds, people often discover not only relief from long-standing patterns of distress, but a renewed sense of possibility, presence, and connection to themselves and their lives.

Personal

I have been with my beloved husband, Josh, for 18 years, and we have two gorgeous dogs: Lexie and Rocco.

Left: Lexie (no eye contact; would rather be sleeping).

Right: Rocco (all of the eye contact; would rather be playing).
